Hello,
a bit about me:
My name is Maeve and I am a second-year public policy student at the University of Maryland. I am from Verona, New Jersey which is a small town 35 minutes outside New York City. I always knew I wanted to go to college near Washington D.C. and that’s why the University of Maryland is the perfect fit for me.
I was recently accepted into the joint BA/MPP program at UMD where I will receive my Bachelor’s and Master’s in public policy at an accelerated rate. Through being in the School of Public Policy and the College Park Scholars Program, I have learned countless leadership and interpersonal skills. Coming into college, I knew very little about philanthropy and nonprofit work. In my Scholars program, I had the opportunity to take part in a semester-long grant-making program where my group gave $1000 to a local education nonprofit. After taking this course, I decided to pick up a minor in Nonprofit Leadership and Social Innovation because I love learning about how different organizations serve their communities’ needs in different ways.
I am not exactly sure what I want to do with my degree after I graduate whether it be in politics, policy, or nonprofits but I knew UMD is preparing me for anything (04.18.21).
