What's next?

  • Rest of Time at UMD

    • I am currently set the finish my undergraduate degree in Public Policy in Spring 2022 and my Master's degree (also in Public Policy) in Spring of 2023. I am currently enjoying taking courses which center my undergraduate degree with a focus in nonprofit leadership and for my graduate degree, I plan to focus in public financial management. Even though these are totally different, I think it will make me marketable to employers because I have experienced all sides of policy. I also plan to continue to be an active tour guide and member of my sorority in the next two years.

  • Post-Grad

    • I am still not exactly sure what I want to do with my degree. I could see myself working in the public, private, or nonprofit center. I like that I have so many options. My dream job would be to work at the Federal Reserve Bank in either NYC or Washington, D.C. but I am certainly not nailed down to one career field.

  • Applying Practicum in the Future

    • The skills I have acquired through my internship at the Borgen Project can take me far in any career field. I have learned how to make connections, create a branding campaign, and mobilize people which can be used in a myriad of fields.

  • Elevator Pitch

    • My name is Maeve and one experience that defined my college experience was being a part of the Public Leadership Scholars program at UMD. In this living learning community, we focused on current events and policy issues to explore the theory and practice of leadership. I gained personal and professional skills such as developing my writing and presenting, learning negotiation fundamentals, and assessing my own leadership styles and strengths. This is critical in a policy career because you have to combine the practical and theoretical sides of issues to best solve them. Through PL, I met tons of young leaders like myself who challenged me to reach my potential which will certainly help me in any career.
